  1. Day 1 Linlithgow Palace, Doune Castle and Perthshire

    Departing Edinburgh we head in to Scotland's beutiful countryside - our first stop is Linlithgow Palace, the magnificent countryside retreat where Mary, Queen of Scots was born. After lunch we'll visit the imposing Doune Castle, which featured in Monty Python and the Holy Grail and was used to depict Castle Leoch in Outlander. Later we'll pass through the spellbinding Sma’ Glen and in to Perthshire, a region famous for its picturesque lochs and forests. Settling in to our hotel, we'll enjoy a welcome dinner together.

  2. Day 2 Highland Safari and Red Deer Centre

    This morning we'll embark on a safari with a difference as we explore the vastness of the central Scottish Highlands with a kilted ranger – we'll head off-road over wild terrain to take in spectacular mountain views and to try to glimpse some of the highland wildlife such as grouse, mountain hares, deer and golden eagles. At teh end of our journey we’ll visit the Red Deer Centre, where we’ll have the chance to see Britain’s largest native land mammal up close. By afternoon, we’ll return to the hotel for an afternoon of leisure time.

  3. Day 3 Crannog Centre and Loch Lomond

    Having discovered her landscpaes today we step back in time to learn about Scotland's iron-age history with a visit to the Scottish Crannog Centre; here we’ll walk in the footsteps of the original Crannog dwellers and see traditional craft, textile and cooking demonstrations. By afternoon we pass in to the landscapes of the Trossachs National Park and on to the Bonny Banks of Loch Lomond. Later there’s a private dinner and whisky tasting session to look forward to at the postcard-perfect Glengoyne Distillery.

  4. Day 4 Glencoe Valley and Scottish Oak Smokehouse

    Our journey today takes us north to the breathtaking scenery of Glencoe whose towering mountains were formed by volcanic eruptions and sculpted by glaciers thousands of years ago. We’ll visit Glencoe Visitor Centre and learn more about the haunting story of the Glencoe Clan Massacre of 1692. By afternoon we'll head for the Inverawe Scottish Oak Smokehouse, to learn about the traditional processed of smoking Scottish Salmon and of course sampling some ourselves.

  5. Day 5 Loch Lomond Cruise and Alloway

    Before leaving the Trossachs we'll be sure to enjoy the waters of the loch itself on a tranquil boat trip - Loch Lomond is the largest body of water in the UK and a cruise offers breath-taking views of the daramatic surrounding landscapes. Back on dry land, we'll make our way to Alloway, the birthplace of poet and Scottish National icon Robert "Rabbie" Burns. We’ll familiarise ourselves with Rabbie’s life, works and even the cottage where he was born during our visit. Later we return South to charming Troon, where an included dinner awaits.

  6. Day 6 The Isle of Arran Excursion

    Today we head over the water to the majestic Isle of Arran - this small Hebirdean island is oftern referred to as ‘Scotland in miniature’ due to its diverse landscapes. After our included ferry crossing, we’ll spend the day exploring the island taking in the sweeping rural vistas, spotting castle ruins on the hillsides and visiting the tiny towns and villages to browse the local shops and sampling traditional fare in the restaurants. This evening we’ll return to Troon, where you’ll be free to do as you please.

  7. Day 7 New Lanark and Traquair House

    Our road will turn away from the coast and back inland today as we set a course for New Lanark, a UNESCO World Heritage village set on the banks of the River Clyde. Here we'll learn about the 19th century textile producing community. By afternoon we’ll make our way to Traquair House country estate where we’ll have the privilege of meeting the manor’s current owner, Catherine Maxwell Stuart, the 21st Lady of Traquair. Our visit will include sampling some produce from the estate's private brewery. Tonight, we’ll rest our heads at our accommodation in the Scottish Borders.

  8. Day 8 Melrose Abbey and the Scottish Borders

    Today we dedicate to exploring the Scottish Borders, a region steeped in history. We begin with a visit to one of Scotland’s most famous landmarks: Melrose Abbey, the final resting place of the heart of Robert the Bruce. More fascinating history awaits this afternoon as we learn about the tragic figure of Mary Queen of Scots. We’ll visit the 16th century tower house that tells the story of her dramatic Royal life. After a day of discovery, we’ll return to our accommodation for a final farewell dinner together.

  9. Day 9 North Berwick and back to Edinburgh

    The final day of our trip takes us on the road back to Edinburgh but not before making a stop at the Scottish Seabird Centre in North Berwick. Here we we’ll use zoom-in cameras to get an up-close look at the local wildlife and birdlife including puffins, gannets and guillemots. Our journey north takes us through the rolling hills of the Scottish lowlands as we head back to beautiful Edinburgh, where we’ll have some time to explore the quaint shops and cafés before we say goodbye.
