1. Day 1 Arrival and Windsor Castle

    Arriving in to London Heathrow make your way (airport transfers available) to nearby Windsor. Your journey begins at your Windsor hotel at 2pm when you meet your tour director. A short stroll away we visit Windsor Castle, residence of The Queen and the largest inhabited castle in the world; see the lavishly decorated State Apartments and cobbled courtyards. By evening enjoy a welcome drink and dinner in your hotel, after which we take a brief walk around this compact and historic town with a local guide.

  2. Day 2 Salisbury and Stonehenge

    This morning we make our way on to the Salisbury Plain to marvel at the prehistoric circle of vast monoliths at the iconic Stonehenge. Then to nearby Salisbury, a charming historic city that is dominated by the cathedral, home to both England’s tallest spire and Europe’s oldest working clock. By afternoon we continue deep in to the South West of England and our hotel close to the Devon and Cornwall borders.

  3. Day 3 Lanhydrock House and Plymouth

    This morning, we drive through the eerie Bodmin Moor, an area of wild and unspoiled natural beauty. High on the moor we’ll make a photo-stop at the renowned Jamaica Inn made famous by Daphne du Maurier's tale of smugglers. Later we visit the glorious Lanhydrock House to explore this magnificent late-Victorian country manor and see the contrast of the grand family rooms and the “below stairs” life in the kitchens and servant quarters. We then return to Plymouth to see the Mayflower Steps and take a boat trip on the Barbican.

  4. Day 4 Cornwall Coast, St Michael’s Mount and St Ives

    Today our drive takes us to the picturesque village of Marazion for stunning views of the majestic St Michael’s Mount, a tidal island and important pilgrimage destination throughout the ages. Next, we’re off to St. Ives enjoy a walking tour of the main sights of this charming coastal vilage and admire the cobbled streets and sandy beaches surrounding the town. Enjoy some free time before returning to your hotel in Tavistock.

  5. Day 5 The Roman Baths and Cardiff Castle

    Returning north, we head for Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage City; see the elegant Regency architecture before visiting the wonderfully-preserved 2000 year-old Roman Baths and Georgian Pump Room. A short onward drive takes us over the border to Wales and to Cardiff, the nation’s capital where we enjoy a brief sightseeing tour of the city’s key sights. By evening we visit the magnificent Cardiff Castle before sitting down for a Welsh evening with dinner and some lively Welsh music and entertainment.

  6. Day 6 Hay-on-Wye and Shrewsbury

    Our journey today takes us through the majestic scenery of mid-Wales over the Brecon Beacons to Hay-on-Wye, self-proclaimed book-capital of Britain. Then through the Shropshire Hills we head for the medieval border town of Shrewsbury, where we enjoy a walking tour with the local town crier to see the timberwork architecture, pleasant gardens and learn about the history of the area. Later we continue to our hotel in Chester.

  7. Day 7 North Wales, Conwy and Chester

    Today we enjoy a journey in to North Wales and experience her dramatic scenery as we pass through Llangollen and the nearby Horseshoe Pass. We'll pause to visit a working hill farm and view the resident sheep-dogs in a demonstration of their skill and training. We then continue through the foothills of the Snowdonia National Park to Conwy, a charming historic town dominated by it 13th century fortress and town walls. Finally, we head to Chester where another walking tour will reveal the unique medieval black-and-white buildings (or Rows) and a wonderful cathedral.

  8. Day 8 The Lake District and traditional Scottish evening

    Continuing North we make our way through the glorious Lake District, a region associated with the children’s author, Beatrix Potter, and the poet, William Wordsworth; we'll stop in the charming lakeland village of Grasmere. We then cross the border in to Scotland to visit the Old Blacksmith’s Shop in Gretna Green, once a destination for eloping English couples. After a drive through the Scottish borders region we check in to our hotel on the outskirts of Edinburgh and enjoy a Scottish evening with dinner and entertainment.

  9. Day 9 Edinburgh City and Edinburgh Castle

    Today is spent in the magnificent Scottish capital - explore central Edinburgh on a brief tour from the elegant avenues of the Georgian "New Town" to the cobbled Royal Mile and its tangle of medieval houses. We then visit Edinburgh Castle home of the Scottish Crown Jewels. The afternoon is free for you to explore the city at your leisure. On selected departures, experience the world-famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

  10. Day 10 Glamis Castle and St Andrews

    Today we take a tour of Glamis Castle, the famous setting of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” and childhood home of the Queen mother. We cross over the Tay Bridge to the picturesque medieval town of St Andrews, famously known as the world's "Home of Golf" and location of Scotland's oldest university, where Prince William and Kate Middleton first met. Later we return to Edinburgh where we make our way to a nearby traditional pub for dinner together as a group.

  11. Day 11 Scottish Borders and York

    Pass south from Edinburgh through the rolling hills of the lowlands to Abottsford House, formerly the home of Scottish novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott. Later we cross the border and head for York for a walking tour of this its medieval streets. We'll visit York Minster, a magnificent gothic cathedral that dominates the city skyline and is famous for its expansive stained glass windows.

  12. Day 12 HIstoric Train Ride, Whitby and Castle Howard

    Today we make our way to Pickering or Goathland Station, which served as “Hogsmeade” station in the famous Harry Potter series. Here we'll board the renowned North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a vinatge train ride. Arriving in Whitby we explore the quaint harbour town whose cliff-top abbey inspired Bram Stoker's Dracula. Then to the elegant mansion at Castle Howard where we tour the estate which you may recognize from the TV adaptation of "Brideshead Revisited”. Enjoy an evening meal with your group today.

  13. Day 13 Shakespeare's Stratford and Cotswold Drive

    Today we depart York and head South in to the heart of England; our destination is Stratford-upon-Avon a medieval town of timberwork buildings, where we visit Shakespeare's Birthplace and its intriguing exhibition about his life and works. Later we continue through the patchwork fields and honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds on route to our hotel in central London.

  14. Day 14 London City and the Tower of London

    This morning we take a panoramic tour of central London to spot famous landmarks including Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Then we visit the mighty Tower of London to see the many turrets & towers, Beefeaters, ravens and the priceless Crown Jewels. The afternoon and evening are free for you to explore the English Capital at leisure and dine independently at one of the city’s many restaurants and eateries.

  15. Day 15 Tour Ends in London

    Your touring programme ends after breakfast this morning. There are group transfers available to return you to Heathrow however alternatively you may choose to continue exploring London independently or make onward travel to other destinations.
