Passing in to the Highlands, we pause for lunch in the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry. Then by afternoon we make our way to Dalwhinnie - the highest distillery in the country and the closest to the source of the River Spey. Travelling back up the course of the river Spey to Craigellachie, we make a stop at the Speyside Cooperage (Mon and Wed departures only) where whisky barrels are prepared and experience another side of this intriguing Scottish tradition. After lunch here or in nearby Aberlour we make a final visit to Glenfiddich Distillery, home to the world’s most popular single malt where the distilling process dates back more than 130 years. We then return to Grantown on Spey.
