  1. Day 1 London Arrival

    Landing in Heathrow or Gatwick Airport, take your private transfer to your hotel in London. The balance of the day is yours to relax or explore the city independently. Using your London Pass, discover the city’s renowned attractions from Westminster Abbey to the Tower of London, from the London Dungeons to Madam Tussaud's. This magnificent city is a thriving metropolis with a vibrant modern culture and rich history and heritage. Culture vultures will delight in some of the world’s most prestigious museums and galleries including the Tate Modern, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum.

  2. Day 2 London at Leisure

    Today you have time to discover some of the lesser known but equally enchanting sites of this world-class city. Visit Whitehall and Downing Street where you can explore the nearby Churchill’s Cabinet War Rooms exhibition, or you may decide to see the city from the river on a Thames cruise to the famous London Bridge. Wander the famous South Bank or indulge in some world-class shopping opportunities at Oxford Street, Covent Garden and the West End. Time-permitting you may choose to take a traditional afternoon tea in one of London’s many restaurants or hotels.

  3. Day 3 Stonehenge, Salisbury and Bath

    This morning you’ll be collected from your London hotel by your private driver guide to whisk you away from the hustle and bustle of the city and out into the glorious English Countryside. Passing on to the eerie Salisbury Plain make your way firstly to the Neolithic standing stone circle of Stonehenge and be taken back to a mysterious time, then on to the historic city of Salisbury itself, a charming town which is home to cobbled streets, market squares and Britain’s tallest cathedral spire which also houses Europe's oldest working clock and a copy of the original Magna Carta. Later you will continue to the historic city of Bath, which oozes Georgian opulence and has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status. Enjoy a stroll around the city with your driver immersing yourself in the architectural highlights including the Elizabethan Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Royal Crescent. Not to be missed are the spectacular Roman Baths (admission included) and Pump Room which date back to the 1st century AD.

  4. Day 4 Unique Cotswolds Experience

    Today you will be an undoubted highlight; with your driver you will embark on a journey to discover the quintessential English countryside of the Cotswolds and a host of chocolate-box villages with eccentric names such as Broadway, Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold. Home to some of the most picturesque villages, elegant manor houses, dreamy gardens and grand palaces, the Cotswolds has something to offer for everybody. Discover where the monks worshipped in Hailes, witness a tucked away village where Lewis Carroll began Alice in Wonderland and head over to family farm, perhaps even trying your hand at stonewalling; famous to the area. In the evening, enjoy an included evening meal in your hotel restaurant.

  5. Day 5 Academic Oxford and Unique Country Experience

    This morning we’re off to the historic Oxford where you’ll enjoy the college quads and spires of the world-renowned Oxford University. Soak up the unique academic ambience which once inspired the likes of Tolkien, CS Lewis and Oscar Wilde and explore the famous colleges such as Magdalen and Christchurch or the Bodleian Library and New College Hall used as parts of Hogwarts in the Harry Potter movies. By afternoon, your driver will share with you a unique local experience - this can include sampling beer at a local brewery, enjoying a traditional sheepdog farming experience, taking a hot air balloon ride for breath-taking views across the heart of England, or maybe a falconry experience to get up close and personal with birds of prey and watch them soar over the fields.   6. Day 6 Stratford-Upon-Avon and Llangollen Aquaduct

    After you driver collects you this morning you head North out of the Cotswolds to arrive in the hometown of a literary legend; Shakespeare. Explore Stratford-upon-Avon, a picturesque, medieval town of Tudor timberwork buildings, open greens and boats bobbing on the river Avon and a wealth of heritage sites dedicated to the town’s most famous resident William Shakespeare. Later you continue across the border into the enchanting land of Wales; you can pause in the traditional Welsh town of Llangollen, home to a steam railway and stunning aqueduct which transports canal boats 150ft above the valley floor before arriving at your hotel. Your central England guide will drop you off at your hotel and bid farewell. After goodbye, you will be able to decide on your so far favourite places over an included dinner at your hotel.

  7. Day 7 Snowdonia National Park and Conwy Castle

    This morning you’ll be collected by your new driver-guide to embark on an incredible adventure through some of Britain’s most breath-taking scenery. Explore the mountain ranges, waterfalls and lakes, and honeypot villages of Snowdonia National park. You will get to visit a true hidden gem that has been granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status; Conwy is a town seemingly frozen in time with its traditional market square encased in stunningly preserved medieval town walls and an imposing 13th century fortress. Thanks to restored spiral staircases in its great towers you can walk a complete circuit around the battlements of Conwy Castle. Upon return to your hotel, enjoy your included dinner.

  8. Day 8 Historic Chester and York

    Today your driver will take you back across the border into England; you’ll stop off in the roman city of Chester, home to Roman City walls and gate towers, the stunning excavated Roman Amphitheatre, an impressive medieval cathedral and the unique Tudor Facaded "Rows”. By afternoon you’ll cross the Dales to arrive in York where your driver will walk you around the grandiose city, home to a wealth of historic and cultural sites from the cobbled Shambles, Britain’s first shopping street, to Viking heritage at the Jorvik Centre. Stroll along the remaining medieval city walls, gates and towers or visit the National Railway Museum, current home of the Flying Scotsman.

  9. Day 9 North Yorkshire Moors and Whitby Abbey

    This morning head North and into one of the most important historical areas in Britain in terms of religion, farming, mining, fishing and smuggling. The North Yorkshire Moors has as more ancient listed monuments than anywhere in the country including, standing stones, stone crosses and burial mounds not to mention the incredible scenery. Pushing through the heather moorland and the quaint little villages such as Pickering you will reach the coast and the jewel of Whitby built around the natural harbour. Take in the 7th Century Christian Monastery; Whitby Abbey before indulging in some traditional fish and chips.

  10. Day 10 Brontë Country and The Yorkshire Dales

    Departing York, head into the heart of Yorkshire; the Yorkshire Dales. Explore the quaint Yorkshire towns of Harrogate and Skipton and the riverside villages. Continue to Haworth, the cobbled village made famous from its links to the Brontë’s sisters and staying on topic, visit The Brontë Parsonage Museum which contains the world's most comprehensive collection of Brontë manuscripts, letters, early editions of the novels and poetry. A stop at the worlds first model village and mill, and the 12th century Augustinian Monastery and you will reach one of Britain’s most beautiful areas; The Lake District. In your charming hotel, enjoy the last included dinner.

  11. Day 11 The Spectacular Scenery of the Lake District

    Today is dedicated to exploring the rugged landscapes of the Lake District with a local expert to take you off the beaten track over mountain passes, through deep valleys and passing sparkling lakes. Along the way you’ll stop at one or more the traditional Lakeland towns or villages such as Grasmere or Keswick and take in some of the region’s most iconic spots such as Borrowdale Valley, Thirlmere and Castlerigg Stone Circle. The highlight itself will of course be an included boat trip on one of the lakes itself. Aside from the outstanding natural beauty, The Lake District is the proud home of many literary legends, possibly the most famous, Beatrix Potter. Explore her childhood home and gardens which inspired many of her best-selling works, Hill Top Farm.

  12. Day 12 Hadrian’s Wall, The Scottish Borders and Melrose Abbey

    Continuing North cross the ancient border between England and Scotland and make a stop at Birdoswald Roman Fort visitor centre to uncover the secrets of Hadrian’s Wall. Then pass through the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders to Melrose Abbey, the first Cistercian monastery in Scotland, founded in 1136 by David I. Be transported back in time whilst walking around the ruins of this architectural masterpiece. Continue the short journey to Edinburgh, the cultural capital of Scotland. Your driver will drop you at your hotel and then it’s time to say goodbye.

  13. Day 13 Edinburgh and Edinburgh Castle

    Today you can dedicate to exploring Edinburgh independently. Discover this magnificent city from the winding streets of the cobbled old town to the wide avenues of the opulent Georgian new town before visiting the Queen’s residence at the Palace of Holyrood House. Enjoy the national museums and galleries in the shadow of the Burns Monument before strolling through Princes Street Gardens or climbing to Arthur's Seat for spectacular views over the city. You may choose to head for the Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith Docks or view the modern Scottish Parliament building before climbing the Royal Mile to the city's centrepiece at the magnificent Edinburgh Castle (admission included), home to the Scottish Crown Jewels, the Stone of Destiny and St Margaret's Chapel.

  14. Day 14 Return Home or Onward Travel

    This morning, enjoy a final breakfast in your hotel before checking out. You may have a chance for some last-minute souvenir shopping or sightseeing (luggage can be stored at your hotel). You will have a complimentary airport transfer if you’re flying back from Edinburgh Airport. Alternatively, make your way onward within the UK. adeo Travel will be happy to arrange onward first class rail travel back to London and additional nights’ accommodation if required.
