G Hines and Family, Victoria, Australia
We are back in Oz after a fantastic tour. It was very generous of you to meet with us after hours at our accommodation in Abergavenny and the pleasure was all ours; thank you for your personal insight into what we could expect from the itinerary you constructed.
Everything fell into place perfectly with only one minor exception. “The Mariner” Haverford West may need your review. There were pros & cons:
Pro: Central location, on-site parking, room size & TV / hairdryer
Cons: No bar fridge, no phone, sloping floor, creaks, & vibrations when someone passes in the corridor (and it’s not a poltergeist). The shower rose was blocked and one tiny bottle of hair shampoo for the Family room. The bed head was loose, the bed & mattress sagged. The ‘no smoking policy’ was not enforced, the room smelt obviously and cigarette butts littered the roof below the window. Other than sitting in our Family room, we did not locate an alternative lounge in which to relax. We acknowledge, The Mariner was established in 1625 and renovations to some parts are yet to be attempted. We did find the staff obliging. Darryl, you might consider removing this accommodation from your preferred list until a review is completed.
We are pleased to say that all of your other recommendations were exemplary.
Remember, when you come to Australia, we will be a little older, but we can accommodate you and show you the highlights of Victoria. Thanks again for the comprehensive itinerary, booking the hotels and the hire-car. We travelled exactly 1000 miles to the yard. You could not have planned that more precisely.
