The Grand York

Originally built in 1906 as a ‘Palace of Business’ for the North Eastern Railway Company, The Grand is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of York, North England.

Originally built as a ‘Palace of Business’ for the North Eastern Railway Company, the property today offers modern luxury hotel accommodation whilst retaining its Edwardian period elegance,
features and décor typified by high ceilings, tall windows, lofty arches, wide open corridors and spaces, sweeping staircases and grand chandeliers. The spa with indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna as well as a wide range of treatments, therapies and massages, is located in atmospheric former vaults.

Legacy is a three AA Rosette-awarded restaurant, serving modern British and Yorkshire-inspired tasting menus alongside an exceptional wine list, served in an iconic setting; whether The Rise Restaurant Terrace & Bar with one AA Rosette award offers modern British cuisine, with locally sourced, freshly prepared dishes, served from the open kitchen is a spacious, elegant setting. You can sink into comfortable loungers in the intimate 1906 Bar to enjoy an extensive drink menu with classic and signature cocktails, a fine array of quality lagers and a selection of Yorkshire’s finest ales with a hand-picked selection of quality wines and Champagnes to enjoy. On Friday and Saturday evenings The 1906 Bar is proud to have live music playing. The Grand is also proud to have won “Best Afternoon Tea 2022” by Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence and organises Cookery Classes with a variety of courses designed for everyone from novices to aspiring chefs.
