DAY ONE

Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and Loch Leven

This morning we head to Aberfeldy, a picturesque Scottish market town where you will have the opportunity to take a tour and a dram at the Aberfeldy Distillery and visit the Black Watch Monument. Then it's on to the Crannog Visitors Centre at Loch Tay where you will gain a fascinating and unique insight into the lives of Scottish loch dwellers 2,500 years ago. Later we'll continue to the charming Victorian town of Pitlochry, set in the magnificent scenery of the famous Scottish Highlands. Then we return to Edinburgh via Perthshire's ancient capital of Dunkeld and the largest Loch in the Scottish Lowlands at Loch Leven.

DAY TWO

Today is devoted to Edinburgh, Scotland's famous capital. We spend the morning exploring this fascinating city with its medieval and Georgian architecture and its imposing castle sitting on top of a rugged mound. Edinburgh has much to offer, and you have the afternoon at leisure to further explore or browse in the shops. You might want to grab an early-evening snack, and then it's time to meet up for the Edinburgh Tattoo, the highlight of our trip. This spectacular show is a fabulous mix of music, dance and display from all over the world, set against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

DAY THREE

Edinburgh at Leisure and Linlithgow Palace

This morning is yours to spend at leisure in Edinburgh perhaps soaking up the festival atmosphere in the New Town and along the Royal Mile. We then visit the nearby Falkirk Wheel which is the world's only rotating boatlift, an amazing feat of engineering lifting canal boats hundreds of feet in the air between the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals. Then we travel to the magnificent ruins of Linlithgow Palace, set in beautiful parkland overlooking the shimmering Linlithgow Loch. Discover the history of this great Royal Palace whose origins date back to the 13th century. This evening we will enjoy a final dinner together in Edinburgh.

DAY FOUR

Jedburgh Abbey and the Scottish Borders

Today we discover the turbulent history, heritage and culture of the Scottish Borders, a unique area renowned for its untouched natural beauty, picturesque villages, castles and abbey ruins. We pass through the region's rolling hills on route to the spectacular ruins of Jedburgh Abbey, a gothic creation which dates back almost 1000 years. Then on to discover the charming Burgh of Selkirk before returning to Edinburgh. On our return to Edinburgh our tour comes to an end.
